Decommissioning

A device that became unusable or is no longer needed must be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the applicable, country-specific waste disposal regulations. Do not dispose of the product with household trash.

Therefore, please observe the following instructions:
  • Always comply with applicable national environmental protection regulations.
  • Sort recyclable materials by type and send them for recycling.

Personal Data

BVS CA-SF devices might offer options for storing personal data. The following sections provide an overview of the different types of personal data and the corresponding storage locations. If this section does not contain any information about personal data, the device does not offer any storage options.

Attention
"Exposure of sensitive data"

If the device is not decommissioned properly, sensitive data may be exposed. This can lead to unauthorized access to the device and its data.
  • Reset the device to factory settings to remove any remaining data and configurations.

User Data

In case custom user data such as calibration data or other information has been stored on the device, this can be deleted using the API that has been used for storing the data as described e.g. by Creating user data entries.

User Defined Name

In case a user defined name (DeviceUserID in GenICam™ SFNC compliant devices) has been stored on the device, this can be deleted again by overwriting it.

User Sets

In case user sets have been stored on the device, the easiest way to delete them is by applying a firmware update to the device, which unless configured specifically otherwise will delete all user sets in the process. One way to do this is by using DeviceConfigure.

User File

In case a user file has been stored on the device using the GenICam™ SFNC compliant FileAccessControl features, this can be deleted again by overwriting it. See Working with the UserFile section (Flash memory) for more information.
