Balluff - BVS CA-GT Technical Documentation
|
Balluff releases new firmware versions at irregular intervals and makes them available here. A new firmware version may, for example, improve device performance or introduce new features. New firmware versions can be installed by using the Impact Acquire framework provided by Balluff. This can be obtained from here. When Commissioning a device or system with BVS CA-GT devices connected to it, it is recommended to install the latest available firmware version on every device in this system as well as the latest version of Impact Acquire if this shall be used to communicate with at least one of these devices. The version number of the currently installed firmware on a device can be found e.g. in the FirmwareVersion property (or the DeviceFirmwareVersion property for GenICam™ compliant devices). One convenient way to display the firmware version of all devices in a given system is by starting the GUI application DeviceConfigure.
Balluff provides technical security support for this product within the defined product lifecycle. This support includes, where applicable, the provision of security-relevant information and corrective measures for identified vulnerabilities.
Security updates or mitigation measures are provided based on risk assessment and technical feasibility within the supported lifecycle period of the product. See Support Periods for information on the support periods of released versions or revisions of the BVS CA-GT family.
Information regarding known vulnerabilities and related measures may be made available through designated communication channels. Users are advised to regularly check for security-related updates and notifications.
The BVS CA-GT's firmware and hardware components are maintained in accordance with product lifecycle requirements, including the obligation to address identified vulnerabilities during the defined support period.
During this support period:
Balluff does not guarantee that every minor or patch firmware version previously released will receive individual bug-fix updates. Instead, fixes are incorporated into newer firmware versions to be released after a vulnerability became known.
The user is responsible for updating to a supported and maintained firmware version in order to receive security and defect corrections. The user shall ensure timely adoption of supported firmware versions. Continued use of unsupported firmware versions is at the user's own risk, and Balluff shall have no obligation to provide vulnerability remediation for such versions.
Users are encouraged to report potential security vulnerabilities through designated security contact channels provided by Balluff. Information on how to report vulnerabilities is provided on the official Balluff website. See Imprint also for contact information and our vulnerability disclosure policy.
At any time during the support period, at least one actively supported firmware version for BVS CA-GT devices will be made available that includes fixes for relevant defects and vulnerabilities.
Upon expiration of the support period, the respective firmware version as well as the physical device shall be considered end-of-support. No further updates, including security updates, are guaranteed for that product.
For each device, Balluff provides support for 2 years from the date of purchase of the respective product.
