The Driver Signature Verification Failure Dialog Box Appears When Installing A Driver On Windows 7 Or Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

After installing a Impact Acquire driver package with a version 2.15.2 or newer the next time you start your operating system Windows warns about an incorrectly signed kernel driver.

Cause

Since Impact Acquire 2.15.2 files will be signed using a SHA256 certificate as required/recommended by Microsoft since 01.01.2016. Windows versions smaller than Windows 8 however do not fully support SHA256 certificates so some hotfixes are needed.
