Balluff releases new software versions at irregular intervals and makes them available here. A new software version may, for example, improve device performance or introduce new features. The version number of the currently installed software can be found e.g. in the versionInfo.txt file installed as part of the software, by examining the version resource of file name of one of the installed libraries, and in the title bar and About dialog of one of the included GUI tools. New software version can be installed by using the installation packages provided by Balluff. When Commissioning a device or development system for the first time, it is recommended to install the latest version of the software.
Balluff provides technical security support for this product within the defined product lifecycle. This support includes, where applicable, the provision of security-relevant information and corrective measures for identified vulnerabilities.
Security updates or mitigation measures are provided based on risk assessment and technical feasibility within the supported lifecycle period of the product. See Support Periods for information on the support periods of released major versions of Impact Acquire.
Information regarding known vulnerabilities and related measures may be made available through designated communication channels. Users are advised to regularly check for security-related updates and notifications.
The Impact Acquire framework is maintained in accordance with applicable cybersecurity and product lifecycle requirements, including the obligation to address identified vulnerabilities during the defined support period. For each major release, the supplier provides a support period of at least 5 years from the official release date.
During this support period:
Balluff does not guarantee that every minor or patch version previously released will receive individual bug-fix updates. Instead, fixes are incorporated into newer versions of Impact Acquire to be released after a vulnerability became known.
The user is responsible for updating to a supported and maintained version of Impact Acquire in order to receive security and defect corrections. The user shall ensure timely adoption of supported Impact Acquire versions. Continued use of unsupported versions is at the user's own risk, and Balluff shall have no obligation to provide vulnerability remediation for such versions.
Users are encouraged to report potential security vulnerabilities through designated security contact channels provided by Balluff. Information on how to report vulnerabilities is provided on the official Balluff website. See Imprint also for contact information and our vulnerability disclosure policy.
At any time during the support period, at least one actively supported version of Impact Acquire will be made available that includes fixes for relevant defects and vulnerabilities.
Upon expiration of the support period, the respective Impact Acquire version shall be considered end-of-support. No further updates, including security updates, are guaranteed for that version.
